Responsibilities: Support function for sourcing team & cross functional teams in US, Canada & International markets Responsible for the execution and approval (as per agreed categories) of fit, construction and workmanship through development and pre-production to meet agreed customer specifications including all Walmart project time lines, cost, safety & quality requirements Training and certification of suppliers technical support to Walmart standards for fit, execution and workmanship. To execute footwear fit and construction meet Walmart retail requirements, ensuring only acceptable quality samples are sent to retail markets for review. Review samples for fit and construction and resolve problems quickly with suppliers. Approving fitting, Grading & Pre Production to production of assigned category Support coordination of business development activities with WM retails Continuously develop product knowledge and maintain close communication with internal and external stakeholders Technical information reporting and reports submission Assume responsibility as a communication bridge between Manager and Technologist, support and follow up Manager’s requested Provide technical support to more junior team members Coordinate Technical efforts across all GS offices. Provide technical support to new sample development to drive RFT samples. Assist Manager to coordinate general affairs in technical team Seasonal block information is provided to suppliers and blocks are utilized during sample development to drive consistent fit and sizing. Evaluate samples (from development through final sealed samples to production), ensuring that all samples meet buyers expectation in regard to construction, fit and workmanship. Technical ability to assist team members, suppliers & factories make the product to Wal-Mart requirements within the scheduled time Pro-actively identify best practice and anticipate risks to the product or production. Propose alternatives/improvements to meet EDLC, production efficiencies or to enhance fit, quality & durability Buying trip support. Assume a proactive role in supporting sourcing to achieve best cost, quality and fit. Maintain close communication with suppliers, retail technical teams and cross functional teams Know suppliers capabilities, capacity and performance. Working with Technical, PD & Sourcing across all offices to achieve consistent quality and fit. Provide support to sourcing in ‘tech pack’ reviews. Sample management, following agreed SOPs. Scope determined by market. Including, but not limited to, implementation of blocks and checking patterns to meet the same, pre-screening or approval of fit samples, sealing and confirmation of grading. Liaising effectively with suppliers and customers to ensure rejection comments are clearly understood, and timely resubmission of fit samples and approval of the same within the agreed T&A. Visiting sample rooms to work directly with suppliers’ pattern makers and production team to improve RFT sample submissions. Collaborate with QA to visit factories to monitor production where required. Keep accurate records of submissions, results, actions and resolutions. Daily WIP updates of assigned category. Assist manager to compile seasonal hind-sighting to track team and supplier performance. Build strong relationship with retail market technical team to understand workflow, brand identity and aesthetics plus any new initiatives, projects or policies related to the department. Timely escalation of issues to CF teams, suppliers and customers as they arise, to enable immediate resolution. Attend weekly quality calls as needed. Support the manager create/revise technical SOP’s and manuals including approval processes, construction standards. Contribute to regular hind-sighting and participate in root cause analysis, in order to drive continuous improvement. Provide technical support to retail markets as needed to create/update block specifications to maintain a basic block library. Requirement: Thorough knowledge of pattern making and footwear construction. Technically proficient in the area of product responsibility and the capacity to learn about new product categories Familiar with current technologies to broaden capability and product knowledge. Practical knowledge of fabric characteristics, processing and performance and how it impacts fit, aesthetics, construction and quality (performance/durability). Proficient in Microsoft office (excel spreadsheet, word, power point). Analytical, with good and problem solving ability with an eye for detail. Able to handle multiple tasks in organized manner, with a sense of urgency Good interpersonal and communication skills with some experience in presentation (spoken and written English).
